Synopsis:

Being blind since 5 years old never stop Sydney Wells (Jessica Alba) become a well known classic violinist. She has a perfect and happy life in her darkness. One day she has the opportunity to have cornea transplantation. The operation is succesfull, Sydney also make a new friend named Alicia, a girl with cancer in her head. Finally doctor is gonna lift her bandages, nervous Sydney is accompanied with her sister Helen (Parker Posey) which is more nervous than her sister. The bandages are removed, but Sydney sight isn't getting better since she only see blur images. The doctor said Sydney's operation is a great success, and he recommend her to another doctor for her vision problem. While spend the night in the hospital, Sydney is awake because of a weird noise beside her bed, she hears somebody is asking Mrs. Hillman (the patient beside her) to go but she refuses. With her blured vision, Sydney sees Mrs. Hillman wakes up. Her curiosity leads Sydney to wake up from her bed and find Mrs. Hillman. No body in the hospital ally, Sydney is trying hard to see what is going on, she sees Mrs Hillman appears and disappears, it's frightened her but she still can not figure out what's going on. The next day, Sydney wakes up when nurses clean the bed beside her and said that Mrs. Hillman is passed away last night.
Before leave, Sydney meet Alicia to say goodbye, and her little friend is asking to take picture of both of them. Leaving the hospital, Sydney's vision is getting more and more freightening, she sees things which are unreal. Her doctor, Paul Faulkner (Alessandro Nivola) assured her that what she see isn't real, and it just because Sydney was blind too long so she can not differ what's real and not. Apart from the weird and scary vision, Sydney begins to have nightmare, exactly at 1.06 am, she also see her room is constantly changing. This weird things cause Sydney a paranoia and affects her life. The horror is too much, She begins to watch terrible things around, and Sydney is desperate, she breaks all lamps in her house, covers all the window and wrapped her eyes, locking herself in her apartment for the whole day. Helen which is affraid because Sydney did not pick any of her calls, call Paul, and together with the building manager, he enters Sydney's apartment and pushes Sydney out of her despair. Sydney tells Paul what she sees, but the doctor refuses to believe. One meter away, Sydney sees the woman is lying dead. Sydney walk away as fast as she can and enters a chinesse restaurant. Frightened, she calls her doctor, Paul and tell him where she is. Sydney then calls the waitress but she seem ignores her. Everything around the restaurant felt weird, and suddenly the stove in front of Sydney is burnt and the whole restaurant is burnt down. Paul is coming and find Sydney in a old ruin restaurant, devastated Sydney is pushing Paul to help her to find her eyes donor and to get rid all the horror

Like always, i really need to collect my courage to see the movie he he, horror is really not my type ^_^. So, i choose midday to see the movie, the sun is out there so no reason to be afraid.
I don't know the original korean movie, i kind of like the movie. Moderate creepy ^_^, the ghosts were still frightening but no crazy sounds which will cause you a heart attack. That's one good thing about the movie. The story was quite interesting, though the line was a bit slow. The end is quite unpredictable. One thing i want to complaint is the slow story, and Paul seems an addition character, since without his presence, nothing is affected. His relation with Sydney is rather awkward. One thing for sure, to see this movie is almost the same with seeing Shutter. The same taste ^_^

SHUTTER

Synopsis:

A newlywed couple Ben (Joshua Jackson) and Jane (Rachael Taylor) is moving to Tokyo for honey moon and to stay due to Ben's job as a photographer. They drive along a quiet road in the middle of the night. Jane is accidently hit a girl while try to see a map, she's frightened but confussed since they can not find the body. The couple then spen their honey moon in a beautiful cabin around Fuji mountain. Pictures taken in the cabin balcony were blured, showing a white foggy shadow. The couple take it lightly at first, but it is changing when Seiko, Ben's assistant, said that they are spirit pictures. Jane starts to see weird things and when she tries to tell her husband, Ben refuses to believe and assured his wife that ghosts are not exist, although he also see weird things. Courious Jane keep search for answer, meanwhile terrors rising, scared both and their friends died one by one. Soon Jane realize that the ghost is called Megumi Tanaka (Megumi Okina) which used had a relationship with his husband, Ben. When she confronted, Ben explain that he was has a relationship with Megumi, a translator, in the same company he works. But since he did not love her, he told Megumi to stay away, but she was totally in love and refuse to stay away and keep shadowing Ben where ever he goes. Jane determines to find out what is really going on, and the more she search, the worse facts she finds.

Comments:

Though Rottontomatoes rate this movie as weird and boring movie, i like this film a lot. Fist because there is no shocking sounds like any other hollywood horrors (and i just realize that americans love that shocking sounds!). Hollywood horrors and shocking sounds or musics are just inseparable, so weird. This movie is just go smoothly, scary, shocking, and has unpredictable ends. But for those who love the shocking sounds and scary scene, this movie might look boring, more over, beside the present of scary Megumi, none other is scary. This is more like horror drama movie, i bet the original movie is way scarier, thai movie. And don't bother to find me one hi hi ^_^

Fun facts:

• On driving scene, it was showed heavy rain but after car crashed, no rain appears and snow piles on street sides.
• When Ben is in the dark room and the ghost touches his neck, which he tought it's his wife, we can see that the arm is cover with dark sweater, and when he got back and realized that it was not his wife, Megumi was not wearing a dark sweater.
• Early in the film, Ben tells Jane that they can't call a friend back in New York because back home it's three a.m., "yesterday." Actually, the time difference between New York and Tokyo is thirteen hours, Tokyo being thirteen hours ahead of New York. So it might have been three a.m. there, but not three o'clock in the morning the previous day.

Synopsis:

The story open by the freezing of hundreds of people in central park, and suddenly everybody starts to kill themselves. The riot is spread and no body knows what's going on. Elliot Moore (Mark Wahlberg) a science teacher and his estranged wife, Alma (Zooey Deschanel) runs away to avoid the pandemic, together with his colleague, Julian, and his daughter Jess. They were seperated because Julian must find his parted wife. Julian enter princeton and die cut his vein, affected by the unknown. Elliot, Alma, and Jess are trapped together with a lots. All wind direction is affected, and the only way to survive is to find the most remote places, that even a map can't find. This group of people travelling into 2 groups and go to a different direction. First group is affected while they are in the midst of a prairie, freezing and starting to shoot themselves. The sound of the shoutguns, fightening other group. Elliot finds way to survive with his logical scientific brain, he finds out that whatever it is that attacked them is due to their large numbers. He yelled and asked everybody to parted into smaller groups as the wind blows closer and closer. And it works, they are not infected. But things are getting worse since so many people running in chaos, grouping in a big amount and affected by the unknown. Elliot must strive for his live and also Alma and Jess, it is hard because they don;t know what to face and the longer, the more random it affected people.

Comments:

I love to see this movie! ^_^ The tension is so high, and it made me tense and diguise hi hi. As i said before i was excited to see the movie. And though i don't recognize other cast than Mark Wahlberg, it still a nice movie. The tense and surprised element were high but not too much. Their acting is also quite natural And like any other Shyamalan's movie, the end is also twisting. But not to twisting that made me complained he he he. Well, basically the story is simple, a run away journey of a family that try to avoid something that they don't know. What i disguised is the killing scene, it very harsh and quite sadistic for me, you can see people hanged by a rope, slicing his vein, and even crushed by a landmow!! What a horrible way to die, hikss. Almost the same with The day adter tomorrow, where there is no solution of the problems. And the funny thing was, when iwalked out, i saw a girl asked her friends with a very serious face, "What is the story about??" Wa ha ha ha ha ha ha, they demanded problem solving!
After watched the movie, i was thinking, isn't possible that someday the weakest creature like plants will do wny harm to us, since we have hurt them for decades. The message is deep, just don't mess up with nature or else, someday or sometime, they will strive and when it happens, i don't wat to be around ^_^.

• When Shymalan wrote the script, he only thinks about Mark Wahlberg playing as the main character
• 85% of the movie is take place outside
• The film took 44 days to shoot and 9 years after The Sixth Sense
• This movis is rate R, due to so many violence scene

Synopsis:

Sebuah telepon tak terjawab menunjukkan hari dan jam kematian penerimanya. Dimulai dari Shelley yang tenggelam di dasar kolam ikan di rumahnya, lalu berturut-turut teman-teman yang nomer teleponnya ada di phonebook ponselnya. Setiap kali mendapat telepon tak terjawab, si penerima akan mulai berhalusinasi, melihat hal-hal yang mengerikan di sekitar mereka sebelum menemui ajal mereka.
Beth Raymond harus berpacu dengan waktu untuk menolong sahabatnya Taylor, dan ketika dia juga mendapatkan satu missed call, maut sudah semakin dekat

Yeah, apa yang bisa saya komentari? Film ini diadaptasi dari film jepang berjudul Chakusin ari, yang saya yakin pasti akan lebih menyeramkan film aslinya ^_^. Just like any other Hollywood horrors, film ini memiliki ending yang gantung (dan membuat saya bete) juga ditambah dengan sound yang menyakitkan telinga. Meski tidak separah The Messanger, selesai nonton film ini, telinga saya menderita.
Filmnya cukup menegangkan dan jalan ceritanya lumayan seru, akting pemainnya biasa-biasa saja, Edward Burns lumayan cakep (hi hi hi). Yang pasti menonton film ini isinya cuma kaget-kaget dan kaget, haiyaaaaah. Tapi, karena tidak terlalu mengerikan, makanya saya berani-berani ajah nonton horror hollywood hi hi
